Our First Paddle Blog Post - Morning Paddle / Introduction

This mornings paddle along a perfect shoreline. The water was like glass and the winds were light to start. The location is a favorite spot of mine along the far shore of a lake just up the road from the shop. Since this is the first blog post it seems like the right thing to do is introduce myself. As the website says, I started the business back in 2008 out of a passion for paddling.

I love to paddle and I do almost every day. I have always heard the warnings that starting a business doing something you like, sometimes leads to not enough time to enjoy that passion. I have purposely worked hard to avoid that. So when I am talking about kayaks or paddle boards with customers, they are talking to someone who was probably out on the water at 5am that very morning. I am very happy to say I have had some customers come back every year for the last 10 years. Its to the point where some folks just send an email saying "Hi" and what week they will be here. I look forward to seeing them every year.

I got started in the paddling business in Fryeburg Maine, working for Saco River Canoe and Kayak. It is still one of my all time favorite jobs, and they are still there, so if you are hitting the Saco River look them up. From there I guided for outfits in Portsmouth, NH, Lake Tahoe, CA (don't get me started talking about this, what an amazing place), Winnipesaukee, NH. as well as working for one of my oldest friends who was a kayak and paddling Rep.

All of the people that have helped me or in anyway been associated with the kayak shop over the years, are all paddlers of one sort of another. Its a common thread and getting out on the water with them is something I try to do when ever possible

If I'm not paddling, talking to people about paddling is next best thing. At the risk of sounding cliche, it really genuinely makes me happy to be out on pickups at the end of a week and have someone say, they had a blast paddling all week. The truth is, with so many amazing lakes, quiet coves and wonderful camps to vacation at in this area it makes my job much easier.

Ok, enough about me this is a paddling blog and I (and anyone else here who posts will focus on that), but thank you for taking a minute to read this one and meet me in a way. I hope to see you out on the water.

Thanks Ted
