Trip Info: Naples: Long Lake and Brandy Pond. The Town Dock In Naples is our closest put-in location. Launch your boat at the sandy beach, relax and paddle for a few hours. Note, while convenient, this is also a busy location, especially at mid day. This is the center of activity for the lake and means a lot of boat traffic, sail boats and even a sea plane. So on a weekend, this location is recommended for early morning and late afternoon trips. (Weekdays are fine any time of the day) For those with more energy and experience, the paddle down Brandy Pond and into the Songo River is great, and with working Locks a very unique kayaking trip.
Tricky Pond: Don’t let the name fool you. This is an excellent choice for busy days, or if you want calmer waters on windy days. 3 min up the road from our shop, with a calm put-in and scenic paddling. The complete loop around Tricky, takes 2-3 hours of relaxed paddling, and the occasional stop at a rope swing. You put in and take out at the same spot so you can take as much or little time as you like.
Muddy River: This is another easy-access trip, 5 min from the shop. Paddle up into the bay and check it out, or head towards Sebago Lake and follow the shoreline past Sebago Lake State Park.
Thomas Pond: Just 10min up the road, Thomas pond looks very small from the landing. Put in on a very calm cove, just off Route 302, and paddle right under the bridge. There is a small bay that is great for fishing. Cross that bay and you will come to a narrow channel that hooks around to the left and delivers you into the main bay of Thomas Pond. Take a leisurely paddle up either shore or circumnavigate the whole pond for a longer trip.
We have maps of the entire Sebago Lakes area in the shop and can help you design a custom route based on your interests, paddling experience and time frame.
A hat, water, sunscreen and bug spray are highly recommended. |
